This was our last full day here. Our adventure began with the Train (Tren) from Palma to Soller followed by the electric tram to the Port de Soller. We travelled on a vintage train that has covered the "marvelous Serra de Tramuntana route...since 1912." We transferred to the first electric tram in Majorca. The Soller Valley is filled with lemon, orange, and olive orchards.
We were on a tight schedule to get the 1400 train back to Palma so the wandering, shopping, and lunching was "muy rapido." (If we had checked, we would have learned they added a non published return that would have suited us. Shortly, I'll mention how we learned that tidbit.)
The port has popular beaches, restaurants, and shops. It's also home to many boats and some transients. Midge has checked into to coming in there; however, it's not a good hold for anchor lines. There isn't another real port between there and Palma. (It's in the middle of the northwestern coast of Majorca while Palma is south around what looks like a peninsula.
Back to the tight schedule... We were to gather at the station to hop the 13:25 team to catch the 14:00 train. Ginny, Ray, Midge and were thee but no Carol or Dave. (They were last seen shopping together.) We hopped on, scanned the crowd looking for them to no avail. We hopped they were behind us or took a taxi to the train if they missed the team. It was a run to get the train, never seeing them. We were concerned and hoped they were on another car. At the very worst, they could take what would have been an expensive taxi ride back to Palma. Arriving Palma, we searched for them without success so we taxied back to the boat.
As we discussed how this affected our "crew dinner" plans with Michel and Linda, Carol and Dave showed up! It seems there was an added train at 17:30. (They had been shopping and missed our rendezvous. They also were able to take advantage of seeing the Miro and Picasso permanent exhibitions in the train station.) All ended well even though Midge was a bit annoyed. We finished the evening at an Italian restaurant near the marina. By then, a good time was had by all as we bid adios to our time together.:)
