After a rocking' and rollin' day and night of sailing, we arrived at 1030 and entered a beautiful harbor that took us past the old and the new. Old fortifications and walls keeping watch on white washed buildings with terra cotta tiled roofs-- homes, apartments, etc. We docked, meaning tied up and ship shape by 1100. Everyone scattered shortly after our "cheated death more more time beer!" :)
My purposeful wandering was to find an ATM for Euros and stamps for a couple of post cards. After a hot hike up a hill and into the commercial center, I got Euros, stamps, postcards, gifts, and fuchsia local sandals. A guitar program beckoned me into a local cathedral where I enjoyed their music for a few minutes while cooling off and looking around. It's very hot!
There was a great market with stalls and shops filled with fresh vegetables, cheeses, and meats. Since I hadn't discussed marketing with Linda, I didn't dare buy anything. Now I wish I had as they were closing when she arrived and wouldn't let her shop. How stupid to miss that sale! (She ended up at the regular market instead.)
Back to the boat with my purchases. Added stamps to two post cards and off again. This time to the mail box and the small market nearby. Wandered in/out of several shops, got yummy gelato--coconut y pistachio--that required tending due to the heat. I managed just fine once I got it started.
Now I'm back on the boat trying to stay cool. Some AC is working other not 'cause we blew a dock fuse when too many were on. The salon's AC is off but there's a breeze fortunately!
Tonight we're walking the the road to 222 for dinner. I had a lovely seafood paella--shrimp, mussels, and calamari. (There may have been something else in it.) As usual the house wine was good. The evening was capped off with a brandy.
Tomorrow we're off at 0700 for a harbor south of Palma de Majorca. We'll be there for three nights.
