We had our shortest sail today; it was only about 3 hours. In comparison to our sail the day before, it was very gentle. We docked next to a couple of boats--one a lovely old-looking sloop and the other a not so pretty power boat. However, the really ugly one is two slips down and black--the Black Sea. The good news: we can their black stick (mast) from a distance. So no matter about our cloths-pinned laundry drying from our rails later! :)
We eat lunch on board and then were off to see the Catedral de Majorca. It is a beacon welcoming all to Palma and a superb landmark. Gaudi's influence is seen inside (He worked on the several areas between 1904-14.) As with many cathedrals, renovations are ever present. I took pictures, experimenting with my settings in hope of capturing interior shots. Not sure what the real outcome is until I see them on my computer. I did get a splendid shot of the Central Rose Window--depicting the Morning Star which represents Christ's resurrection. It's a spectacular cathedral!
We did some wandering, found the ALL important ATM, introduced the "newbies" to El Corte Ingles Commercial the mega department/grocery store in Spain--ala upscale Meijer's, found our way back to the marina, and planned our next day during cocktails and dinner.
Dinner was at an Italian restaurant a short walk from the marina. As usual the food and wine were enjoyable. The highlight for me was watching the pasta chef making ravioli. I almost ordered that, didn't and wished I had. Darn those second thoughts!
Ah tomorrow...
