Last Thursday we were in Singapore and wish we were still there, there is so much to see and it was a packed day. We enjoyed the drive into the City and we stpped at the Botanical Gardens on route, which was very enjoyable. The range of plants, particularly orchids, was beautiful. We then visted some of the main tourist attractions around the harbour, followed by China Town. We had to take our shoes off at the temples but I carried mine inside in a plastic bag as a precaution - old habits die hard. However, nobody suffered any loss. Next up was a ride on the Singapore Flyer, higher than the London eye, which provided us with panoramic views of the City and harbour. Got some nice photo shots
After this experience we caught a cab to the famous Raffles Hotel, which certainly had the wow factor. We stood open mouthed for a minute or two before doing for a drink in the Long Bar. There were four of us - two beers and two Singapore Slings cost us fifty quid. Thats the price you pay for going out of your league". Nevertheless, we returned to the ship after a superb day.
Malaysia was next stop and we were too tired to go to Kuala Lumper so we stopped at Port Kelang. A short coach drive took us to a large shopping complex where we found good quality goods at very reasonable prices. Back on ship other passengers said we hadnt missed much by missing KL.
We are now enjoying four days at sea before Mumbai.

derek I wish I was as clever as you as I had my sandals taken whilst in the temple and as far as raffles long bar prices you didnot mention the free peanuts , now enjoying a few days of heavy frost if you can remember what that is.
pete edwards Wow! I knew Raffles was more expensive than Betty's in Harrogate! I am reading a novel about Singapore at trhe moment "TANAMERA" which means Red Earth - is the soil really red? The climate is supposed to hot and sticky too. You will have seen a lot of the things mentionned in the novel, so it is worth reading when you get back.Glad you are still having a ball but could do with winning "Millionaire" when you get to Mumbai!. Not long now till Christmas to enjoy yourselves whilst you can. Keep someone smiling.
Ann Zumbo Really enjoy your updates. A trip of a life time. Unfortunatley I have no insights into the places you have visited. And live vicariously through your blogs. Look forward to your next update. Love Ann
