Hello again people! We're doing a quick blog now because we're going to be busy the rest of the day and then we are flying off early tomorrow for mountain madness! I'll start where I left off last night - fretting about how in the world we would get in touch with Chong, well as coincidences occur I'd noticed that I had a text & missed call from him and as I was reading the text he rang again and said he was on his way into the city 'let's meet now', so meet we did! Chong picked us up at the hotel and we went out of KL to have a coffee and a catch up! T'was truly good to see him and to catch up on old times - and we had a number of conversations about the economy and state of the world - I felt very highbrow though the two more business minded people had the conversation on an entirely different level whereas my blinding insight was - "wasn't it the Americans fault?" I'll stick to psychology (but only if the Mahmut thing does pan out! We had a conversation while wandering round the Petronus towers today and I decided that my elephant would be called Super Heffalump, not sure it will fit in the yard mind but small details!)
Anyways because of the very, very late night we struggled to get our carcasses out of bed this morning, the plan was to head to the KLCC and Petronus Towers and go up onto the sky bridge (that bit that joins the two towers that someone in some movie jumped off!) However due to our late start we didn't get there in time to get tickets (they're free but limited so we missed the morning time slots so we're going to get up early and go before the Grand Prix next weekend!). We wandered round the towers centre for a bit but it's another of these homages to designer goods with Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Prada being littered around the place, so we took a swift waltz round to take advantage of the air con and then headed off.
This afternoon Chong is picking up and we're spending the afternoon and evening with him heading out of the city for a bit more of an authentic Malay afternoon - which is always a tonne better when with someone who lives here! It might be late when we get back so that's why I'm writing now as it's early to the airport tomorrow to fly to Kinnabalu, we have one night in the city and then the guide for the mountain is picking us up at 7am on Thursday to begin our climb! So I imagine that this will probably be the last blog update until Saturday morning as we don't land into KL until 11.45pm on Friday night and I imagine with the stiff muscles we envisage after the mountain climb it may be somewhat difficult to move let alone track down an internet cafe!
So hopefully when we return, I will be able to fill you in on the last few days and hopefully tell the tale of how we conquered the mountain - fingers crossed (just imagine how long that post will be!)
Big hugs to everyone!
Love Kat & Lee xx
