This was kind of a strange day. Debbie's yacht club in rocky river had arranged a picnic for us. Nice, right? Well- it ended up feeling like i'd been conscripted into this big production.
First, we all had to meet at the 40 mile point - but it was unclear what time that was supposed to be or where exactly in this giant park we were assembling. I think i was there with karina, ellen, and judie for almost an hour. We found the other people eventually on the other side of the park. Even after we were all assembled, there was really no leader getting us moving.
Second, we got to Debbie's house and had a picture on her deck. From there, we had a police escort ... yes, two cars .. down to the yacht club. Arriving at the club, big cheers - but no lunch (it was now 1pm) We'd all been not eating too much so we could be polite eaters. The folks were really excited about it all, understandably. I think I would have liked the whole situation a lot better if we'd been ASKED if we'd like to do this thing.
It was a really nice spread of side dishes and food. I'm sure Debbie's community is very proud and excited for her.
A weird thing - Mary's map went missing at the house, my map was removed and replaced back to the beginning page at the yacht club, and Mary's mirror was all out of whack after the yacht stop.
Anyway, we left the club to get to Cleveland in a leisurely way before the time I needed to meet Traci. Happily, i'd made it clear a few days before that it was important to me that the luggage be there sooner rather than later. I'm very happy it was.
Karina turned out to be my roommate...so she got a single while I visited Traci. I had such a good time - it was like a little vacation from the vacation. So great to see her being a mom to Winston and to meet him. =)
Anyway, a weird approach to Cleveland - nice parks highlighting the lake, we got to go in the water while waiting!
