Hi all, sorry for being so slow at updating but here you go.
Our first day Xi'an (30th August 2007) much like everywhere else was raining. We seem to take the Guernsey weather with us. Oh and I should point out that we've picked two english lads John Burrows ( aka diarreha - he seemed to have it the whole time and Charles Leeming aka Choice Lee Ming - the chinese can't say Charles). Anyways when we all awoke the next morning Choice had a slight case of bed bugs but used it in his favour to get lots of attention and sympothy from the lovely tour guide aka Jai Jai. Enough of them, we went for a wonder around the city which is like a bigger and better St Malo. A walled city with the old modern mixed together. We saw the Bell Tower and the Drum Tower both being a big Bell and a Big drum!!
31st - Went to Panda Sanctuary to see were they look after Pandas too injured to be let back to the wild. Had a free lunch as part of the tour at which point some idiot named Alistair shouted lets have Byjo (not sure on the spelling but its rice wine 80% proof or something ridiculous), almost threw up at the table and was certainly not what the doctor ordered when you have a hangover. Not the most eventfull day.
1St September - Another very unproductive day partly our fault. Got up at 12 and wondered off down the road to catch a bus to the terrecotta warriors. Half an hour into the bus journey we were a bit confused and showed a local man were we wanted to go and he showed where we were on the map or as it was miles off the map, we'd been going in the wrong direction for half an hour and neither of us had noticed we'd left the walled city as soon as we'd got on the bus. By the time we got back to where we started it we would of missed the last bus. Ah well. The evening consisted of us trying to watch the footy but later being told CHina has banned ESPN so that was a no go as well. So we just went back to the hostel and some beer and had a little lock in with nice bar ladies who gave us free cookies.
2nd September (attempt 2) - Again getting up a little late due to the beers meant we had to rush around again. This time because we had to be back to get the train to Shanghai. Anways made it to the Terracotta Warriors which were pretty impressive. A quick 15 minutes to take photos before getting back just in time to get the train.
Another entertaining train trip in the comfy soft sleeper section for about an 16 hour journey.
Next stop Shanghai....
