Straight for the ferry again this morning and over to HK Island. Then we caught a bus to Stanley via Repulse Bay. It was really windey and the driver was quite quick, but the buses are exactly like at home! Saw some great scenery and the lovely little bays. Was quite suprised how small Stanley actually was and the market didnt seem that big, but we walked around, not helped by the cold today. Today is the first time we have felt really cold, could have done with a coat on. Had a snadwich in a deli and bought some bits and bobs. Got a new Memory Card for my camera, so thats another 4000 photos taken care of! Today is the first time we have felt really cold, could have done with a coat on today, but not too bad later on.
Caught another bus onto Aberdeen, this time on a little public hopper bus, only about 20 seats, and they just nip along, you pay when you get on by throwing your money in a slot at the front. Arrived in Aberdeen and walked through another New Year Fair, more villiage fair ish than yesterday, didnt want to buy anything, but the street dancers on the stage were very good.
Took a walk along the front and got hassled by sampan drivers wanting us to take a ride, but we werent really interested. Instead we walked along and finally found the entrance to the Jumbo Floating Restaurant, it was only around 5, but after we had got the free boat over and taken photos and chosen what we wanted we were hungry. We had sweet and sour pork with pineapple and deep fried spare ribs with strawberry sauce with steamed rice. It was all lovely and made even better with the opulant surroundings and the great view. Made me wonder if it has changed much since mum and dad were here? By the time we left it was dark and the whole floating restaurant was lit up! Took lots of photos and enjoyed the ride back to dry land. Took a stroll to the bus stop and hung around for a number 71 back to Central. We have been around most of the island today! Got back to the ferry peir and caught our last ferry of the visit to HK.
Walked back through town and were struck by the Christmassy atmosphere... Everyone is shopping and getting ready for the 3 day New Year celebration which starts on the 26th, its like our New Years Eve, then day and the day after. Unfortunately we are going to miss the legendary fireworks on the 27th as we will be on the train to Shanghai - a mammoth 20 hour trip!
Got a long and busy day planned at Disneyland tomorrow, bought the tickets in the hotel and taking the metro over to Latau tomorrow for when the park opens! Quite exciting!! Bed for me now X
