Wednesday 7th
Today we flew from Budapest to London, this part of the trip was a surprise for Peter
Arriving late at night we made our way through customs which was a nightmare and then panic set in as I could not find our luggage, thankfully a nice British Airways man found them and then we were on our way, by the time we got to Paddington we were both totally exhausted and hit the bed until late the next morning
Thusday and Friday
Finally after breakfast we headed for the hop on bus and spent most of the day just going around London and finally getting to Buckingham Palace, where we got off and just wandered around, Peter is getting better but I am still not well, so everything is a real struggle
Friday has arrived and Peter has worked out what attractions he wanted to see, so we headed for the underground and to the Tower of London and spent some time there, then on to the Thames River cruise down to London Bridge and on to the London Eye, Peter was not a fan of this ride and took a bit of convincing but once in the capsule and he could see how slow it does go he really relaxed and enjoyed it, the weather was magnificent and you could see for miles, leaving the Eye we took a leisurely stroll over London Bridge and back to the river cruise and then into the underground back to the hotel.
Saturday 10th
Up early as we had arranged to meet up with Allison and Dean who live in Staffordshire but the rail link to them is Litchfield Trent Valley which is about an hour thirty minutes from London, so once again we navigate the underground to Euston Station. great trip to Litchfield, the countryside so green and lush. We haven't seen Allison and Dean for over three years when they were last out in Australia and it was good to get off the train and see two familair faces, off to the village for a much needed coffee and just sit and talk, then a walk around their beautiful village and then lunch and yes finally the obligatory British fish and chips and then a drive through the countryside and yes we went down those narrow little roads that you see in the movies and always wonder what they do when they come across another vehicle, well we found out, they just pull over as far as they can and squeeze past
All to soon it was time to say goodbye and we were on our way back to London, this was a really great day.
