You have all seen the adverts on TV, river cruising in Europe, and how many of us have said Ï would love to do that one day" Peter has said this many a times over, and finally one day I said "do you really want to do this?" and when I was convinced that "yes" it was the one overseas trip he really wanted to do, I started to make plans and this was a trip in progress that has taken about 18 months to organise.
We are flying Singapore Airlines, Melbourne to Singapore and have about a 3 hour lay over there and then on to Amsterdam, we are in Amsterdam for two days and as I have been before I wanted Peter see it before boarding the river ship.
Once we board the ship we have 14 days,15 nights of cruising and sightseeing on the Rhine River, ending up in Budapest where we leave the ship and stay in Budapest for 4 days.
I asked Peter where he wanted to go after we leave the ship and his answer was home,
No way was that in my agenda and advised him to pick another place/city he really wanted to see. finally coming back to me a few days later with the suggestion of Paris (Hell yes! now your getting into the swing of it) my thought was a leisurely rail trip to Paris, just stopping off at towns along the way for a day or two, but nothing was actually working as far as distance and timetables went, so one day, as it does if you are patient, new ideas come to mind, so we are flying from Budapest to London, (this part of the trip is a surprise for Peter) staying for 5 days and then the rail to Paris for 6 days.
Itinerary has been received. Flights all booked, seats allocated, hotels booked, train travel organised and after a small glitch with the booking of the apartment in Paris, with a last minute cancellation, I have finally found another apartment and that is all confirmed. Only thing left to do is pack and then unpack and pack again until I have just what is really needed.
So come along with the both of us as we leave on a Jet plane, cruise on a River Ship and travel by train and hopefully you enjoy the trip also.
