Ben and Marie's American Road Trip
We had finished with our short journey to Dallas, and we were heading back to Route 66 to continue our big drive. The drive back up to Oklahoma City was again straightforward, and we were going to be staying in a KOA camp the opposite side of the city so that it was easier for us to get on our way tomorrow. We would be staying at the Cherokee Trading Post KOA on Route 66. But before that we had the 3 hour drive North from Dallas and then we were going to be going to Lake Hefner for the afternoon. We were blessed with amazing weather again, so I was keen to go to the lake after driving in nearly 30 degree heat. The lake wasn't far from Route 66, and we headed straight there. We got the towels out of the car and got our books and went o sunbathe by the lake, perfect. I had a good read, Marie just slept, she does love a nap. An ice cream van came along and that was just the icing on the cake, so I woke marie up to a minion ice cream and I had cookies and cream. Marie made a huge mess on her white jeans, again. We left not long after that, setting off for our camp for the night. It was about 30 miles away, so not far, and we were there by 6. So we set the tent up and then thought about dinner, which turned out to be Sonic at a local travel centre, as we were basically in the middle of nowhere. We ate, I ate too much, again, and then we went back to camp to bed.
