Ben and Marie's American Road Trip
The first thing on the list after packing up the tent today, was going to see the big blue whale at Catoosa. This is another Route 66 attraction and is a huge cement whale given as an anniversary present in the 70s. It has slides and windows a tail that you can jump off. Although swimming is not recommended or allowed, plus there are turtles in the water too. Might nibble your feet. After this, we headed into Tulsa, and we went to the Golden Driller, another huge statue. This one based on an oil driller, and way bigger than the Route 66 giants. After our photos, we then attempted to go to the water park just down the road, but unfortunately it was shut, much to Marie's delight. Bless her. So instead, we decided we would go to the Tulsa aquarium. We had to drive across town to get there, but the aquarium was really fun. We saw some more crabs, which I literally hate because they're so angry. Plus we could touch starfish, but I wasn't particularly keen on those either. I did touch a crab in the touch-pool, and there is evidence. We also got to feed the sting rays and the turtles, the turtles I found out were the same breed as two I picked off the road this very morning because I thought they'd get squished if I left them there. So I stopped the car and picked them up to move them. Both the turtles and rays were very hungry, they even tried eating the stick we were using to feed them!! We saw electric eels, an octopus and also albino turtles, but unfortunately the beavers were hiding. Just before we left, we saw the shark exhibit and we had a lot of fun trying to take a photo of Marie with the sharks, which really didn't work. After the aquarium, we went for our first experience of Cici's, which was ridiculous. I don't understand how they can make money. All you can eat for $6. Including desserts, pasta, salad and create your own pizzas, it's unbelievable. I ate far too much, I almost felt bad. Anyway, after that, we set off again for Oklahoma City and our camp for the night, but when we arrived, there had been a huge crash right at the entrance to our camp. We had to wait an hour in a thunder storm, just for the cars to be cleared. But we didn't mind, as long as everyone was ok. After that, we got to sleep in the car fairly quickly, another long day.
