Today we woke up and again didn't have the luxury of a shower, however, that was ok, we were going to go swimming later. Another night of proper camping. But our plans for the day were to first head to the hoover dam, we had fruit and a cheese and ham tray lunchable thing for breakfast and lunch, and then we went to the dam. It was sweltering hot again, 36 degrees when we were out on the top of the dam. We walked round and saw both sides of the dam, the water behind the dam looked so appetising, blue as the sky. We also saw a little tiny turtle swimming in there. We took lots of photos and an Asian lady asked if we wanted her to take a photo of us, we said yes, and then she walked off! We stood on the opposite side in the shade and looked over into the controlled flow side, it looked like a huge concrete slide down into water. A very long slide at that. After that, we headed up to the memorial bridge that goes over the hoover dam, the view was incredible. After that we decided we would check out lake mead and go for a swim in the sea and a sunbathe on the beach. It was lovely expect the beach was gravel in most places. We sat in the sea for ages just chatting together, it was really nice. We read our books on the beach and then around 8 we went for another cheap dinner in Burger King. The sun set on the beach as we left, and it was really beautiful, and still 32 degrees. The Nevada desert was hot. We had a different tent site tonight, this one was actually at the closer camp, right on the shores of the lake. Only $12 as well, leaving more money for Vegas, which is where we were headed tomorrow. I couldn't wait, and we were going to be staying in the Monte Carlo, 5 star treatment. Far from the lack of showers we had had lately.
