Today we were leaving for Vegas, it was only 15 miles down the road and I was stoked. We would be leaving around about the right time so we could kill some time just before on the outskirts of Vegas before being able to check in straight away at our high rise strip view room, we thought we may as well, might only do this once. So we set off from lake mead and stopped for fruit and yoghurt for breakfast in Boulder City, we took our time because we couldn't check in until 3. After breakfast, we then went towards Vegas, we stopped at a gamestop for a browse and also at a gas station for petrol, then after that we set off to a mall where we could have a quick look round before leaving for the hotel. There was shops everywhere, Vegas seemed to be all it was cracked up to be so far, and we hadn't even reached the strip! After looking through the mall and failing to get myself a haircut, we got some essentials from Walmart, and headed to our hotel, having wasted a sufficient amount of time. We arrived and the strip from outside in the daytime looked crazy as it was, we got inside the hotel and I pretty much fell in love, the slots, the size, the drinks, the food, I wanted to do everything at once. So the check in queue was pretty big, and so we waited for about half an hour, but then we got our room and found out we were on the top floor!! The lift ride was a long way up, but the view from our room was incredible! In our room there was an air and mood changer, which could play music and release scents to help cheer you up or calm you down. There was a huge TV, not that we would be using it very much, we set about showering as it had now been two days without one, travelling luxuries. Then we got some dinner at Five Guys, and then came back to the hotel to get ready to head downstairs to gamble. On the way back we saw a truck convoy celebrating memorial weekend, women hanging out the windows, flags flying and doing burnouts, it was all very American. Once we got back through the traffic, we got changed and we ttried out some of the slots on different machines, no real wins. Introduced Marie to slot machines and taught her a bit about playing. Then we took a little walk outside to see the strip at night, it was so much better. Everything you could see in the daytime was now lit up like a Christmas tree. Everything stood out and the place was exactly as it looks in the movies, it was captivating. I didn't want to leave already. We got some champagne from a shop across the road to take back to the room, we enjoyed that and got some sleep. We would spend more time at the casino tomorrow, plus we had the use of the MGM Grand's pool. Which I was very keen to test out.
