Managed to re-schedule our tour of the Blue Mountains. It was a right mission getting there though. We missed buses, and had to run to the hotel, and get directions, and the first bus was full, I went for food and got lost on my way back, and the bus was late…
Great start, huh?
Next thing, a man went bat s*** mental on the bus. At the next pickup point, a lady was told she couldn't take her buggy as it was taking up a whole seat that someone had paid for. All of a sudden her husband was shouting at everyone, swearing, yelling at the bus driver, pacing up and down the minibus and took off his shirt like he was gonna deck the driver. Drama.
Anyway, the Blue Mountains are beautiful. We stopped off at the Olympic Stadium on the way, where the Arabic family switched bus. We then went to Echo Point - we saw the 3 Sisters. The view was fantastic.
We'd paid for lunch to be included - a big mistake. My chinese was acceptable, but Ben had a 'doughnut fish' - sweet battered with the exact consistency as a doughnut. Yummy!
We then went into the heart of the mountains - we took a cable ride down into the valley, where we took a long boardwalk around the rainforest before getting the scenic railway back up. The railway was awesome - it's the steepest in the world, and my god it was steep. We thought we were gonna fall forwards (we went backwards up the cliff.) The whole place was gorgeous.
On the way back we stopped briefly at Featherdale Wildlife Park - we saw massive bats (this area of Oz has the most humongous bats - literally bird size) and more wombats and echidnas! (I love wombats)
