I can't believe we haven't written anything about Oz yet!
We left Fiji super early to get a last minute flight to Sydney. This was interesting. Ben had to stick to me like glue to talk on my behalf, and I was drinking through straws. I was also drinking yoghurt through a straw - many people were offering me their yoghurts so I could eat something during the flight. (How lovely!)
So the first thing Roy said to me when he met us at the airport was "That Looks Awful."
No Hello, no nothing.
We rushed to the doctors, where I was prescribed some penicillin and pain numbing gel. Within a couple of days I was fine.
To briefly go over the last few weeks, Oz is great... It's amazing to be in rooms without bed bugs, and be reunited with 'Friends'. We're staying with some family friends of mine, who are taking great care of us. Their tiny dog isn't taking a liking to Ben though - Harry bit him. (It was more of a nibble.)
On our first weekend we saw a vocal group called Encore who were good, and met Roy & Carolyn's extended family over breakfast. They've also been taking us around everywhere with them, such as to a housewarming where they hired a pizza van catering company. Mmmm.
We've been spending A LOT of time at the beach. NSW isn't that hot right now - the water is FREEZING compared to the bath water ocean in Fiji.
We spent a whole day at Manly Aquarium, Oceanworld. We saw some huge rays, a smoothray the size of a queensize bed! some huge sharks and a very teeny tiny sea turtle called Sea Biscuit, who had lost her front fin. :(
Ben has also been trying to teach me to surf. I have been an awful student, given that on most days Dee Why has waves that are too big. But I'm learning. I'm useless at popping, but there's hope.
Andrew (Roy's Son) and Louise (his wife) invited us over for dinner one night. Shocked by our lack of seafood experience, Lou introduced us to oysters, doing them in 4 different ways. Cheese sauce with oysters served hot, is great by the way. It was lovely, she did a lush 3 course meal.
We've been to a Christmas Carol concert too, with Lou and her little daughter Holly. It was so surreal sat in a park with icecream. Wierd.
I've also been saved by NSW's Lifeguard of the Year.
(Yeaahhh - he was nice!) Ben & I were taking an age to get to shore in a rip current, the ride back was so much better that the two of us on the surfboard.
We've had a couple of lush days in Sydney. We went to the Chinese Garden of Friendship at Darling Harbour. Ben has been hooked on Jasmine tea since. Friday night was spent at Markets by Moonlight at the Rocks. The atmosphere was great.
Ani's Travel Tip Part 2 Section 1 Paragaph 1: Looking like you're getting into trouble on a beach is not always a bad thing. Especially if the lifeguards are fit ;)

Nigel Thanks for the update - at last! Sounds great and good to hear that you are discovering some of the finer things in life such as oysters and chinese tea. Two of my favourite things! Anastasia Markets by Moonlight it a market they hold at the Rocks (by Sydney Harbour) every Friday night. It's gets quite busy and vibrant plus they have a stage and do a lineup of amateur musicians, oh and there's buskers etc too. Ahh... I was wearing sun factor vasaline & managed to boil/sunburn (or bit or something or other) my lips. Then cos its so humid and we stayed in rough-n-ready places it got infected... It all went downhill from there really! All fine now though! Awww, glad you like it! Keep reading & commenting xxxx
