We had a lazy last morning on Malolo in the pool.
We left at 4pm to catch the South Sea Cruises ferry to Beachcomber "The Party Island." Purchased a bula pass - which was ridiculously complex and long for a reason none of us know. We'd even pre-booked. We also found that the rooms there are super super super expensive. To top it all off, I left my brand new hat onboard!
We arrived in a bad mood.
The island initially looked really touristy and the dorms looked rough. They had no walls and slept 120. However our $300 was quite nice.
We went down to the shore for some food & to see the party (the bar/restaurant/dance floor is right on the beach.) We met a diving instructor who was quickly whisked away by a drunken American called Jeremy who was convinced he would become Irish. Eugh.
After this bad start, we joined some guys playing snap. (It has never been so epic or exciting) They turned out to be a trio of Welsh backpackers. They were truly lovely. We had an ace night with them & a German girl they'd 'christened' Icecream. Ben showed them card tricks all night long and they ended up buying us many a pitcher of Fiji Gold each. We managed to create a bit of an audience, including an American boy who tried to challenge Ben with smooth talk and a 3 trick repertoire.
Fiji seems a little quiet all round at the minute, so it didn't quite live up to it's wild reputation. Ben was relieved.
We dragged ourselves to bed at about 230am.
Good night (but stupidly pricey)
