This morning I'm going to be working on my Mongolia presentation and longitudinal task for a few hours before Luke gets into UB. Luke is one of the guys that goes dirt bike riding when I'm in Adelaide, and is a friend of my brother-in-law, Adam. He works at some of the mine sites in Mongolia for 2 months at a time then gets a month off. He's just now finishing up two months here and is on his way to Egypt for two weeks before heading back to Adelaide, then back to Mongolia again.
I got my work done at the French Bakery this morning, then met up with Luke and a woman friend of his at the State Department Store. He did a bit of souvenir shopping and got loaded up with stuff for family and friends. After a bit more perusing the shops along Peace Ave, we dropped the stuff back at his place and headed out for a quick drink and a bite to eat. We ate at the Bayangol restaurant, which is the restaurant at a major hotel in the middle of town. The food was good and I ate a hot noodle dish with vegetables. It's the first somewhat hot food I've had since getting here - yeah! Then we went to a bar just a bit further down the street where we met up with some of Luke's co-workers who were on shift change flying into and out of Mongolia as well. The guys there should have been well and truly done drinking for the night, but they kept on going. As you would expect, eventually a fight broke out but fortunately it stayed confined to those workmates that all knew each other and all had drunk way too much!
So another day comes to a close. Tomorrow I review my work so far with Dr. Gantulga, including my new poster I've created about Hypertension in Mongolians.
G'night!
