Today I woke up feeling surprisingly refreshed. Maybe it was because I wore a beanie to bed last night and stayed a bit warmer. I had a quick egg and bread brekkie then headed out to find an ATM so I could pay for my next few days here. The first ATM here wouldn't accept my card. The second ATM here was out of order. These ATMs are few and far between, so it was getting frustrating. I had walked for over 30 minutes just to visit these two, and they were the only two I knew of. I stopped into another bank and they gave me a sheet with a list of all their ATMs but of course it was in Mongolian, so it did me no good. After another 20 minutes I finally found one. This time it worked but I was a bit disturbed by the fact that I could see the Windows XP start bar on the ATM, along with all its running programs, "CoreFTP", "PMKey", and one other. Anyway, it gave me money so I was happy. A quick stop to the shops on the way home to pick up some water, shampoo, and soap, and then back home to do laundry.
The laundry machines here are the old style ones where you put water in one side, then take your clothes out and move them to the spinner. It took about an hour to do all my clothes but at least they're clean.
Anyway, so here I am up till now typing all this and ready for some food and/or coffee. See ya!
So I decided to get some pizza tonight. There's a place here called "Planet Pizza" across the road. They advertise "American Technology" pizzas, though I wasn't quite sure what that meant. The pizza I ended up receiving was not very similar to any other I've ever had. It had an enormous amount of cheese, no tomato sauce, and just a very few pieces of vegetable. Anyway, it was still good. My salad turned out just be some chopped up tomatoes and some other random vegetable. I also found a nice light beer here but I have no idea how to pronounce it since it was in Mongolian with no English translation.
I'm now a bit tired from all the running around so I decided to just sit and watch some TV tonight instead of doing anything. The guest house here has a few DVDs on hand, but they're all pirated of course because you can't buy a real one if you tried. The first movie I just caught the last half of - it was called Lady in the Water or something like that. It was a strange film about a girl who belonged in a storyland who gets trapped in the real world and is trying to get back - not my style. The second movie was "Michael Clayton", a George Clooney mystery thriller type film - not bad.
So that and a quick call to Michelle wrapped up my evening. I'll be sleeping in tomorrow. G'night!
