After leaving such a small town in the form of 1770 we headed to Rainbow beach hoping to find something a bit bigger, we did not. Rainbow beach is a mix between 1770 and Airlie Beach, like 1770 a tiny town and like Airlie Beach in the sense that is a launching pad for trips to Fraser Island.
Our trip to Fraser Island was the following day and we had just arrived in Rainbow Beach the morning before. The greyhound dropped us off just outside our hostel so after crossing the road we went and checked in. The weather was similar to that of an Autumn day in England, pretty wet and windy so our options for the rest of the day were limited. This wasnt the end of the world though as we had to have our Fraser Island introduction talk in the afternoon to hear about what our trip involved and what to do if we encountered any dingo's. The talk consisted of a comical talk from 'Merv' (a boss of the Fraser Island tours) and a shocking DVD which explained how to respect Fraser Island, not to swim in the sea and dont stroke a dingo, it was all very exciting.
Talk over and the weather still being rubish there was nothing much else to do, except play free pool at the hostel (literally hours). When playing we saw some friends (quite alot actually) that we had met on the Clipper who had just got back from Fraser Island. The evening that followed involved a couple of pints (yes pints - its a miricale!) and a chin wag, before heading to bed ready for the early morning which followed.
