Hey guys! Thanks to every one who have sent us messages! So great to hear from you!
Okay so this is the 1st time weve updated our Blog since we have left so here goes!
I'll just fill you in on what weve done so far!
Me and Bekki arived at about 6:40am on the 5th of Feb in Joburg airport! That was a crazy experience! I have never felt so white!
We called this man called Rob and he collected us from the airport within 10 minutes and then we went to the hostle, which is really strange! But very friendly-met some boys from wales who've been to Cap'n Jaspers! Very random and we shared a room with them.
Bekki and I where sleeping for most of that day beacause we only had about 2 hours sleep on the plane! We are very tired!
Joburg is very strange! We were in a suburban area so the area is safe yet very flat and just lots of houses next to an airport-spent the evening playing football with Jaqueline, a little black girl who live at the hoslte and with a load of the gardeners! English people are so unfit! lol
Ariving in Durban was fantastic! The sun was scorching! After meeting about 1000 zulu dudes, we then went through miles of bush and farmland to Khoboto ranch monkey sanctuary. We were greeted by Henry, Geremiah and the other gardeners and we learnt some Zulu and a Zulu handshake! SO COOL! lol
We walked into the main building surrounded by monkeys. On opening the door we heard a screech and a baby money the size of my hand shot up Bekkis leg! Was soo cute!!!
Its been amazing! Yesturday Bekki and I went to a rural school... and it was so shocking! I'll set the scene... 2 huts, broken windowns, scorching heat in a sub dessert terrain, 1 shared classwork book, 3 absent teachers, longdrop toilets will no paper in a field next to the classroom, no electricity, no running water and about 300 hormone filled zulu kids trying to learn! Was a complete shoker! Especially when we had to take a lesson!!!
Had an early morning today! Woke up at about 5:30 to prepare and feed the monkeys! Went into the cage to feed them and I had one sat on my shoulder as I hand fed the blind monkey Iris-was so cute! Bekki got bitten by one the other day! Couldnt stop laughing!!! But we are in the hills and the scenerey is absolutly fantastic!!!
In 2 weeks me and Bekki are going for a 4 night stay in a game park called Thethlui (I think i spelt it right... dont start me on the pronunciation! hahaha) and will go on safari for the big 5! And will also go on a night trek to look for Cheetah!
Okay so that about sums up our first week abroad!
Loads of love to all,
Dan and Bekki xxx
