Sun 06/09/09 - Fri 11/09/09 Heya! OK so my first day and night in the big QT was a little crazy, so the next week was pretty much spend job searching and Chilaxing! I meet a couple more of Jode's friends on sunday and cooked a roast dinner for us all. On Monday I went for a walk with Sue and Em around Lake Hayes which is about 10 mins from QT and was gorgeous. As the lakes round her are all glacial, on a still day they become mirrored so you get a perfect reflection of the mountains in them. It was about 8K around and a beautiful sunny day :) I think I shall become a bit of an avid tramper here (thats what they call walking here - rambling retards i am flying the flag overseas! - be scared for my return as i am going to be hardcore - we're gonna do a 3 day tramp soon!!!) On tuesday Jon (Jode's Boyfreind) arrived and then on Weds me Jode and Jon went up the mountain range The Remarkables for my first go at snowboarding! I was very lucky to get all the equipment for free! Lets just say snowboarding is frikking hard! Poor Jon spent all morning with me trying to teach me but spent most of the time being pulled over by me! ha. After spending most of the morning on my arse i finally started to get the hang of it and could do a few turns although i need to work on my control instead of hurtling down, panicking and then flying sideways! Also quite approriately I am apparently "goofy" which means i naturally lead with the opposite foot to most other people! oh to be different, hey! During the rest of the week I spent time handing out CV's, going for lunch, handing out CV's, going for lunch! I also went for a little explore of Arrowtown (about 20 mins from QT) which was a gold mining town, and pretty much hasn't changed from the 1800's. It was rather cute but very tiny. It has lots of fantastic walks around the local area and i did an hour long one along a creek. The Lakes District (the county the QT is in) is where the majority of The Lord of The Rings was filmed so the scenery and walks her are beautiful. I half expected to come across Gollum whilst wandering along the Creek! The week was rounded off with a selection of pizza'a at Winnies - which is afavourite with the locals and was absolutely amazing - dominos will never be the same again!!
