I've arrived!! After my epic journey through many time zones and 3 different aircraft i finally arrived at Queenstown airport about midday on the 5/9/9! The airport was tiny - similar in size to staverton and I was in such a daze that I wandered straight out of the airport to sit and wait for Jode without collecting my bag off the luggage belt! ha good start hey! Anyhow Jode and her housemate Sue turned up literally seconds later to collect me and look after me! The drive from Frankton airport to Queenstown is about 15 mins and I was in awe of the beautiful blue sky and surrounding huge snowy mountains. Jode's apartment is great with stunning views over Lake Wakapitu - which Queenstown is built next to (well only a tiny chunk as its 80 miles long!)
After dumping my bag we headed into town to get some clothes from the salvation army for dressing up that evening (what a great first thing to do - browse the charity shops!) Oh yes although i had endured the longest journey ever, without any sleep for 3 days, Jodie was insisting that I go out and get wasted playing pub gold that night (it took a lot of persuading!) So.... with our successful purchases of second hand pullovers we headed on into town for a beer and some food and met up with Jode's friends Emma and Chris (Who's birthday it was hence the pub golf!)
After a couple of hours sleep I headed into town to meeet Jodie and the other guys, as they had gone out a bit earlier, and felt right at home. As I walked into the bar i could see jode lying spread eagle on the bar floor, squawking, Sue smacking someone with a golf club and Emma downing cocktails. I knew then that I'd fit in just fine! ha.
The evening got messier and was great fun as i got to meet lots of Jode's friends, check out the bars on offer and more importantly the men! Omg they are nearly all hot! Sorry guys but i can't believe how long i wasted on Gloucester men!!! ha (ooooh contraversial - apart from all my lovely male friends of course!) Anyhow after some jungle raving and a deep fried lasagne it was time for bed!
