From KL to Singapore we rode in a luxury bus which had huge reclining seats which massaged. Going through ground customs was really strange as we are so used to doing it at airports. We arrived at customs and the bus dropped us and all our bags off at one side and waited for us on the other once out bags had been checked. We took a taxi from beach road to katong mall which is close to David and Vanessa's place. Taxi are very cheap here unlike in nz. After dumping our bags Vanessa suggested a wee place for us to grab some dinner. It's open til 2am and its always packed. Cheap delicious Asian food. The first day we spent looking around the city using the duck and hippo touring package. We used the hop on and hop off bus to explore different areas. Had a tour on land and sea in a duck. It was a great way to see the city from different spots. It gave us great views of the marina bay. In the afternoon we checked out the famous raffles hotel for a singapore sling. Amazing cocktail with a large price tag but definitely worth it. The peanut shells that covered the floor added to the whole bar. Later that evening we went up the Singapore flyer to see the city at night with all the beautiful lights. Awesome views. We ended the busy day with a river cruise in the evening down from Clarke quay to marina bay. We have also been to the Singapore zoo, night safari, botanic gardens, marina bay sands and universal studios on sentosa island. The zoo was fantastic especially the orangutans and elephants. The night safari was a separate park included a tram around the park and several short walks. Seeing what lots of animals do at night was awesome. We took the monorail over to the small island of sentosa where we spent the day at universal studios. Amazing theme park with roller coasters, water rides and a transformers ride which is like nothing I've been on before. There were also lots of short shows throughout the day including a rock show and shrek 4d. By the end of the day we felt quite sick as it was so hot. That evening we meet up with a school friend of gregs in little India for dinner which was packed of Indians and lots of food stalls. Friday we went back over to sentosa to check out the island itself. We walked up to a lookout and the most southern point of Asia along a bridge. We met David for lunch at the hawker market for some dumplings and Korean BBQ hot plates. Delicious! That night we meet David and Vanessa at there local bar which had 2 for 1 drinks. It was across the river from marina bay sands so the outlook was fantastic. They took us to Arab street where we had Turkish for dinner. After more drinks we decided to try shish which is flavoured tobacco. Was definitely a new experience and lots of fun. Arrived home about 2 am and stayed up talking in depth about national geographic channel with Vanessa. Quite amusing. We spent our last day in Singapore hanging out with David and Vanessa. They took us to get dumplings for breakfast. Amazing. They were made fresh in front of you. We went up the marina bay sands building for some lunch time cocktails and to check out the awesome views. We finished the afternoon with some famous chilli crab and tiger beers before heading back to their place to pack up. Great week in Singapore. We both really enjoyed it there :)
