Hi everyone,
So the last few weeks have been awesome. We stayed on Phi Phi for 4 days and got to enjoy the beautiful beaches and the famous night life. Certainly eperienced parties on the beaches with fire throwing, swimming and dancing under the stars.
Phi Phi was beautiful and we walked up to the view point which overlooks the whole of Ton Sai village. On a tree is a picture of the area 2 hours after the Tsunami hit. Absolutely unreal. Very moving and strangely peaceful. We sat there for hours just taking it all in and seeing how well the island has moved on since but still those who were affected and lost their lives are very much at the centre of it. We watched the beautiful sunset.
Two of us left the others behind and set me off for Phuket. We had heard mixed things about Phuket but felt we had to go even if it was for a night. So we headed to Patong and got dropped off at cheap cheap accomodation - it did have air con though. We enjoyed it, visiting the Gibbon santuary, Bang Pae waterfalls, the big Buddha where you can see the whole of Phuket from and then did a Thai cookery course which was wicked. If anyone fancies Phad Thai or Green curry i'm your lady :-)
We left Patong and headed on a local bus to Khao Sok - a beautiful national park where we stayed in the middle of the rainforest and trecked through the jungle. A very beautiful, peaceful place.
Next stop was supposed to be Koh Tao however due to missold tickets and lack of ferries we had a stop over in Koh Phang Nga. We stayed in a nice resort on the beach although had a power cut which was fun! lol. Its so relaxed and happens so often its just south east asia!!
We finally got to Koh tao on sunday at 11pm and went on our first dive at 12. Slightly scary seeing as though I did my Open Water PADI 7 whole years ago but it was like riding a bike. I did two dives sunday and then have done my advanced for the last 2 days. Dives have included exploring Wrecks, Deep dives to 30m which was incredible, Navigation which I was rubbish at and buoyancy dives. I have seen the most beautiful reef and coral life. A very peaceful experience. When you are down there nothing else matters just the beauty of under sea.
The last dive was last night - a night dive. It was the dive I was most scarred about but most excited about too. It was certainly an adventure. We went out at dusk and kitted up. All ready to go and slightly freaking out jumped into the water. Did all final checks and went down with our torches. There were 3 of us with 2 instructors. The sea was so calm when we went out and down we went. We explored the coral life in the dark - things really do come alive although very scary as you only see what your torch points on. Suddenly you could look to the left and there be a big fish or the coral wall! Very disoreientating but saw some Baracudas, rays, trigger fish and the list goes on....... After the dive we started going to the surface. Stopped at our safety stop of 5m and looking up you could see flashes of light and the waves beating. It looked like people taking pictures but then you heard the rumble of thunder. We came up to rain beating down, a strong current and thunder and lightning. A proper mission to get to the boat and boarded. It was the biggest thunder storm I have ever seen. Had to pack equipment away while trying not to be thrown of the boat and be sick. Got very cold very quickly and unfortunatly it was unsafe to strat going back to shore at that point. We eventually started going with the rain beating on us even harder and the lights going off. The next challenge was to find the boy to anchor onto. This whole process involved the captains wife neraly falling in, losing the rope and having to lean overboard with people holding my legs to reach for it to then secure us to that spot. Then we waited and waited. The long boat eventually came through the choppy water. We clambered on and off we went. The tide was so high we had to swim the last bit to shore. When feet were finally on the ground it was time to thank God that we were safe and sound. It was a crazy experience and one of those situations that you see in films and never think will happen to you. One very big adventure thats for sure! I wouldn't change it for the world but makes you realise how important those are that you love and mean the world to you.....
Today is a chill day although looks like annother storm is approaching. Tomorrow we head to Koh Phang Nga for the full moon party!!!!!
I have met some amazing people out here and everyone looks after eachother. People from all over the world. There is so much out there....
These last few weeks I have been to some of the most beautiful places I have ever been too. Travelling on your own gives you time to think - think what is important and what you want from life. think who is important to keep close and those who touch your life for a reason and make teach you things. There are those who I will have always in my life - hopefully :-)
SO far I have carried out many of my dreams and have many more to come. I am very grateful for all those people who have helped me get here and I am grabbing every opportunity possible.
Those who are very special to me, and you know who you are, thank you so much for everything.
All my love,
Bx
P.S Bali is next weekend and Becki is coming to play! Cannot wait to see a famiiliar face.
