Hi everyone,
Words cannot describe that last three days but I will try and give it a go.....
Following my last entry from Koh Tao the 4 of us went to Koh Phangnan for the famous Full Moon Party. We had a chill out 3 days and then the party. Its where 30,000 people all gather on a beach on the island. UV paint everywhere, buckets, buckets and more buckets and music. You dance until the sun rises on the beach and meet lots of people from around the world. Very tiring but an awesome experience.
We spent our final night in Koh Samui and then flew our seperate ways. The other 3 to Oz and me to SIngapore. Singapore was a strange place. The city was a bit of a culture shock with shopping malls on 7 different levels undersground. The people were friendly but it was a bit of a lonely time as it was really only a stop over before I met Becki in Bali. I stayed in a 17bed dorm - a first thats for sure. The eye patch and ear plugs were definitely essential!! After a hair cut and a wonder I then flew to Bali.
It was amazing to see a familiar face. Although itsa only been 8 weeks we had so much to catch up on and had my first hug which was amazing!!!!
So first stop was Kuta - the tourist area of Bali. A stange place - bright lights, lots of people and many touristy things to do. The sea is full of surfers. The waves are amazing. We soon decided to head to see the Komodo Dragons.
So three days ago we flew to FLores - an island in Indonesia. We boarded a rickety boat with the guide, captain, cook and 1st mate and set off. Our own personal boat!!! Not luxury though I can assure you. After a few hours snorkelling on an island where just we were, seeing some beautiful coral and fish - lion fish, baracuda, stone fish, clown fish ( the list goees on and on) we headed toowards the sunset. As the sun began to set the most incredible site ever happened. Hundreds of thousands of bats left the island and headed to the main land. A constant stream over head for about 10 mins. So so beautiful - they were dipping in the water. An amazing experience.
Next was dinner on the boat and the night under the stars. It was the most beautiful sky I have ever seen. ( Dad very similar to Eqypt in the desert). The sky was so clear, no light polution, just us, a blanket and the stars...... my heaven. For those who know how much I love stars....words cannot describe it.
The following morning we headed to the National Park, the island were Rinca and Komodo. We did a trek starting at 7am in search for the Dragons ( which eat people! Last year was the last reported death). We were so lucky - we saw 8 in one group just chilling in the sun. 3metres long. You can't imagine they can run. Then we saw several others on our hike, one making a nest for her babies. So so beautiful. They are the only 2 islands in the world where you can see them!
So we flew back this morning. Every moment is such a magical memory but the last 3 days have been incredible.
Tomorrow we catch the feery to Lombok, an island just off Bali and then plan is either a 3 day volcano trek or some diving in the gilies and a surf lesson. We shall see. Becki leaves in 7 days and then my Australia experience begins. Can you believe I am half way through!! I have also heard that Rachel is coming to New Zealand!!!! Bring on our camper van and mountain hiking, skiing, sky dives and the list goes on.....
