So here I am at SIngapore airport waiting for my next chapter to begin. It is 8.30pm and although my day hasn't gone to plan due to rain constantly all day and thunder storms, I have managed to upload a fair amount of photos onto here. Apologies about how many there are and they will be so much better when I get to explain about them but I know that thousands of pics when I get home will be too much for anyone ;-) (Mum and Dad, bad luck you will have to sit through the hours of tails and pics when I'm able to speak once over my jet lag).
So since I last wrote.....Komodo
Well we were in Bali for a day and then set off again on a days travel to an isand called Lombok. We travelled on a ferry with the locals which included a sound proof room where they did kareoke (can't spell it, lol) We also sat on plastic covered seats which were slightly sweaty to say the least. It was supposed to take 3hours but guess what asian time it took five. Then the transfer the other side took 3 in total as tehy decided to stop of randomly for over an hour to have a rest or something. Lol. That night you can gather that we were in bed by 7.30pm.
The following day we went to get motorbikes to go up the coast road. Well Becki tried first - crashed into a tree and almost a man. There was no way I was letting her drive one!! I got the hang of it quickly although didn't fancy being responsible for both mine and Becki's lives.....
We visited a temple on the cliff side and booked our dives for the following day. BEcki had a private lesson that afternoon in the pool so she could just go out and enjoy the underwater world. We then met two guys who very kindly offered to take us on a ride to watch the sunset. (I know what you are thinking but we could have had them ;-)) so we set off. What amazing fun. I even drove some of the way back. The view was beautiful - mountains on one side and the ocean on the other.
The following day was a dive day - 2 more days to add to the log book. We managed to wangle a drop off at one of the Gili islands as well so we didn't have to pay for a boat over. The dives were wicked. The first one called Shark point although no sharks but it was a drift dive which was wicked - took a while to get used too. The next dive was a wreck and we saw some more beautiful turtles. Honestly all I could think down there was Crush and Bruce from Finding Nemo talking to me. Telling me to enjoy the swell. They were so incredible beautiful.
Becki ended up with a bad ear so off to the medical centre and we had an issue with our accomodtaion which involved me getting very cross, finding another place and accidently breaking the loo before we were left and told we had to pay for the night. Yeah right!
Gili Trawangen is the most beautiful island. We spenmt 3 days here. We explored on bikes which took a fair few hours, laid on deserted beaches and watched sunset with cocktails on the beach. The stars were out of this world too. For those of you who know how good I am at cycling - I have mastered cycling in sand. Hard work!!!! It is a very chilled island and we spent the evenings chilling in bars and on the beach. Except for one night where I managed to be very very sick and had to go to bed :-( ( not due to alcohol I may add).
We headed back via fast boat although typical Becki and I. The boat was beached to begin with, then half an hour into the journey one of the properllers broke and it took 3 and a half hours rather than 2!! To add to this Becki said she turned round and saw about 5 of us very very green. I felt so ill. We were hitting waves and flying quite literally. Then the next moment, it really was like a bucket of water, came through the window and landed on my head. I was drenched!!! Very amusing.
Once we got back to Bali we decided to have a change of hotel. Oh my word it was awful!! They made us pay upfront for three nights but it was the dirtieest place you have ever ever seen. I had three hours sleep. Worked myself into a bit of a state. Refused to have a shower as that was disgusting. We spent 3 hours searching for 4 star hotel. We started to think we really did look like travellers as they kept saying they were full. We found one :-) We spent two days in luxury. CLean sheets everyday. No bugs. Amazing showers and an amazing pool.
