Hey everyone,
Sorry it has been so long. I realised I never finished my last blog. I worte it at SIngapore airport, was only allowed 15mins at a time and then heard my final call for my flight to Darwin. Thought I had better run.
So I arrived in Darwin, the Northern Territory. I have got to say now that words cannot begin to dscribe this place. The most magical, peaceful and spiritual place I have ever been too.
It started off with a local market on the beach where you watch the sunset and lots of local bands play and fire throwers and then lots of stalls and food stalls. It was so much fun and the coolest digeridoo band called emdee (look them up, incredible).
Then my tour to Kakdu national park began. I camped under the stars, some nights in tents and some nights in swags. Literally it was put your sleeping bag in another bag and watch the stars, while lying around the campfire and hearing dingos howling. In Kakadu I saw lots of Aboriginal culture and history including rock art and being blessed my locals and joining in some dancing as well as making my first digeridoo noise (very chuffed!). Then we did a few hikes and went on a river cruise to see crocs. Beautiful wildlife.
The next part of the trip was Darwin to Alice Springs. This was so much fun. 9 of us taking 3 days to travel 1700km stopping off at Devils Marbles (google them - amazing) and then staying in Tenant Creek where Wolf Creek is set and also had lunch at the pub where the backpacker joanne who went missing 9 years ago was last seen! Glad we were leaving at that point. Its just like desert for miles and miles, no civilisation but lots of kangeroos and plants, trees. Beautiful. We camped under the stars all these nights although it started to get very chilling, to the point where I thought my feet had fallen off. This was also the point where I broke my foot, the top of it and have never been in so much pain. Had it checked out and things but dosed up on mega painkillers and wasn't giving up this beautiful part of the world for anything.
The only issue was it was 4-5hr hikes a day. Althgouh I did everyone, i suffered in the evenings a little. although sitting and cooking around a campfire under the stars and seeing lots of shooting ones is not bad. So the final part was Uluru or Ayers rock. The most amazing 3 days ever!!! We hiked around the Olgas and watched the sunset on ayers rock day 1, hiked around the whole of ayers rock and saw sunrise on day 2 and then hiked kings canyon on day 3 before heading back.
An exhausting week bt I would recommend it to everyone and anyone! Met some amazing people. All of these places were so peacful and spiritual. The history of australia is fascinating. Especially the aboriginies. I perfected 10 secs of digeridoo playing however somehow don't think one will fit in my backpack. lol. Can't even buy any souveniers it is full!
So now in Cairns. Arrived here 3 days ago exhausted. Staying in a massive party hostel with a club ubndreneath called gilligans with over 700beds but it hasn't been bad at all. A very posh hostel and a lot of cool people.
I have been trying to organise my next 3 1/2 weeks down to sydney but have realised i don't have time for Melbourne and a couple of other places.
Today I did a 14000ft sky dive - my word.... still spaced out and in shock. Can't believed I jumped out a plane attached to someone, freefalling for 60secs going 120mph and 3miles above earth. I jumped out the plane and it was incredible. I saw the fgreat barrier reef, the ebach and then the rainforest. So beautiful. Fell through clouds and then had a go at steering the parachute. Got he DVD so you can all have a laugh. Think I have never screamed so much in all myu life, like a proper girl!!!
So tomorrow is Extreme white water rafting on Tully river - a whole day on grade 4 +rivers. Lets hope I survive that too. haha.
I think the next 4 weeks will be travelling on my own. Meeting up with different people along the way but I have a set plan in a certain time to do but I think its quite exciting :) I have certainly learnt to be very content spending time on my own.
Next stops are magnetic island to cuddle a koala, dive yongala wreck (top 5dive site in the world), whitsundays, fraser island and the list goes on.......
I think about you all and it less than 8 weeks till home time - can't believe it.
All my love, keep emailing etc and lovely to talk to you guys on skype. Very important to me.
