Ok, so continuing on from where i left off yesyerday!
October 21st - after arriving in Perth I was shattered! slept in (until half 6!!!) and was worken up by Eleta to say get up were off to a show!! so off we went - me still half asleep - and with Rosco in the float (they call trailers floats for some weird reason. so we arrived, watched james go round and after he had finished with Rosco we went and jump judged for a while around the cross country which was fab. me and Oli - their 14 month old son watched the horses and saw them fall off and splash around in the water - we had to keep running after oli as he thought it would be a good idea to go and play in the water jump!. Found out as well after talking to Eleta that Matt ryan (Australian Olympic Gold Medalist) and his wife marie were going to be coming over to stay for a week and also hangout with Clayton and Lucinda fredricks (Again OLYMPIC RIDERS!!) so will meeting at least one famous person out here! also discovered that james used to ride and work for Ian Stark and used to ride on the British Junior team. After the XC finished we went and watched the SJ from the VIP tent and was given as much wine as we could handle! also discvered that James works for one of the wineries close by so even more free wine!! when everything was finished we packed up and went home and fed the horses and had tea. was in bed quite early!
Octber 22nd - so this moring i got up fed the horses and the cat nad dogs - they have a Lakeland terrier called George and a jack russel called Austin (he got his name cos his dad was called MOJO so as teh film austin powers puts it - Austin lost his mojo! hehe). had breakfast and then got one of the horses that they had on trial for the riding school ready to go on the float and take into work. drove through to Claremont which is where the riding school is. Clayton Fredricks used to own the showgrounds before he moved to the UK. when we got there i was a bit suprised as it looked like a theme park and in the middle of the place was the stables. was showed around a bit and shown the ropes a bit. I cleaned up the ponies a bit - chopped their manes and tails to make them a bit cleaner. There are 3 rebeccas working there now - me, Rebecca (stable hand) Rebecca (teacher) so we got the horses tacked up and arenas sorted out and then waited for the lessons to arrive. the 3.30 hour group was full of little kids but their parents all gave Eleta funny looks about me going in the arena to teach the kids so Eleta took it and I helped with the lesson and then took the rest of the lessons that I was meant to be taking. so after we finshed all the lessons we untacked the horses, hayed and watered them all and then headed off home, had tea an then bed!
October 23rd - I fed and watered the horses and then cleaned out the feed room - too ages as there was mountains of old chaff under the crate that the feed bins were on top off. so that took a good couple of hours and then me eleta and james went into Midland (a near by town) to get some supplies and some new johds for me so i didnt have to fry in jeans for the remainder of the summer. after lunch we went through to the stables - its proper name is Showgrounds Equestrian Centre - and I rode touche (the horse thats on trial) but found that she was lame so put her away and started teaching. stopped for Fish and chips on the way home - Mel u'd be so proud of me - I ate fish and chips! Me! the fish hater!!! hehe!
October 24th - fed the horses at home and then grommed Dotty - a 3yr Warmblood who is off to get broken in sometime next week. Eleta and James decided to Weane the foal from its mum (the horses that they have at home are Rosco, Dotty, Amber and floaly - pronounced Ferlowlow in a high pitched squeaky voice!)so they took amber away from flolo and left dotty to look after flolow. Rosco is up for sale and someone rang up to see i they could ride him and try him out so we had to get him ready to go. so we got him ready and waited almost 2 hours until this lady came. james was a bit pissed cos poor rosco was stood around waiting for this woman to arrive! she didnt like him much as she wanted a SJ horse, not an eventer. So we put him back in the field and then headed into work after loading jumps etc onto a trailer to take into the showgrounds. I came home with james after my lessons as James was teaching later and Eleta picked up oli from nursery. Stoped for a cider on the way home - they call it a roadie - and drank that on the way home and then had tea and went to bed.
October 25th - this was Lauras 22nd birthday - really really REALLY gutted that I missed it but from the sound of it she seemed to enjoy it. had the day off today so lunged Rosco and pondered on what i was going to do today. Eleta suggested that I come into the showgrounds with her and then catch the train to Freemantle (FREO). so before we went into work we went and picked up a little welsh pony (called huckelberry) for the school who was having a break at a friend of Eletas house. theis place was MASSIVE- they are converting a barn into a house, an entertainment centre with a cinema, a wine cellar, an eternity pool, building a polo pitch at the bottom, new stables, the list goes on!! so anyway got the train through to freo and had a wander around and saw most of the sights - still had a few left to see so thought that i would go back through another time. saw the oval, the harbour, esplanade gardens, the shipwreck museum, cappocino street, the anchor walk and loads more. came home about 8pm and then did the horses and went to bed.
Going to leave it there for now before I spend the whole day on teh computer! will write more tonight xxx
