Today we said fairwell to West Leichardt Station and headed south-west to dinasour country.
A bit of a drive however Cloncurry for lunch was a very tidy town (the boys enjoyed their pies), then had to stop at McKinlay, home to the famous Walkabout Creek Hotel. Plenty of pictures from the days of filming Crocodile Dundee. Pen forced Baz to have a beer (just for the photo of course).
We then perched ourselves at the back of the famous North Gregory Hotel in Winton for the night. Established in 1879 it was here that Waltzing Matilda was played in public for the first time. During the 1920's, secret meetings of locals took place at the hotel to form a small airline called QANTAS. In 2016 the Stevo's camped out the back, cooked a ripper dinner on the BBQ made up of prawns, bugs & steak then snuck in the back door of the Royal Theatre next door for nostalgia night under the stars.
