Up early again this morning, another cracker sunrise. The family headed in to Mount Isa to drop the car off for a service and a well needed tyre rotation and balance.
Once again headed to the Visitor Information Centre to grab a coffee, do some emails, phone calls, put some postcards together and book in for the afternoon mine tour.
A quick bite for lunch before a quick view of town from the lookout. Surprising how big the mine is from up here. Met some people from Hamilton up here, amazing how many people from Victoria that we come across that have a connection with the Western District or Bellarine Peninsula.
We then went on the Hard Times Mine Tour. The tour guide had worked in the mines for 43 years before becoming a guide so his knowledge of the history, harsh working conditions and the improvements due to technological advances was very insightful. With Jack, Pop's and one other kid on the tour he was great at including the kids by letting them sit on the big machinery, operate the mine lift etc. We all looked a treat in our mine overalls and were bloody hot walking around the upper yard looking at machinery.
Another gathering around the entertaining area back at the homestead before retiring to our little home for dinner.
