Watch out world the Barkers are coming!
Well we were supposed to be going on the
inca trail today but we are still here because of my
tooth!
As soon as we arrived in Cuzco, i got a real bad tooth ache in my wisdom tooth, thought it would pass after a few days, but it didn't. Turns out that it was so bad, monday morning that Ellen made me go to the dentists... just so happened that if i hadn't gone i could have been in real
trouble! My tooth had started growing into my jaw, and the pressure of the two bones on each other was causing the discomfort!! if i had left it the dentist said i may have had top have my jaw broken in order to get it
out! But i got lots of novacaine, (three seperate doses) and he got his dirty work pliers and big old masonry drill out and got the b****** out. Onlykidding it was very clean and very professional, better than most dentist back home. After a bit of wrestling he got it out and foudn that the reason it was so hard to extract was because, normally wisdom
teeth have two roots and mine, being the freak i am, had three massive roots! So he sent me home with a perscription and i went to bed ready for the inca trail the next morning(4am no less). Half way through
the night i woke up in major discomfort, and we had to forgo the trip. been back to the dentists today and he said theres a little infection where my gum was over the tooth and food was stuck in it! but i got more pills (yes, i do rattle when i walk these days!) and
now i am fine and well on the road to recovery. El has
been amazing and deserves a medal for her patience
with me, i'm a very lucky boy!
So after all that we are still in Cusco, been on a
tour of the city today and went up to the largest inca
site in South America (called Saschihuaman- pronounced like "sexy woman"!), its massive and they say only 20% has been excavated!
we're going to find out if we can get to macchu Pichu
Tmoz, by train so that we don't lose all our money,
should be ok. I'm taking ellen out for a meal tonight,
as reward for her Florence Nightingale impression, and
she wants Guinea Pig!!!!
Had an alpaca steak the other night...AMAZING better than any steak i've ever had, its like a cross between beef and pork with a much
sweeter taste and more tender texture....Hmmmmmm!
Well thats the crazy update so far, will keep you all informed!
Much love the Barkers
