Beach, well a French Rother Valley was the aim of today.
The directions were vague an we didn't hold out much hope of the man made beach on the local lake being much cop, but how wrong we were. First of all we almost had the place to ourselves other than the odd mini bus load of French "school" kids, I say school, more like a secure unit for duck botherers.
After a fun start on the playground we discovered the man made beach an made a start putting some footprints on it's untouched surface. Camp was setup nearby ( including our shinty new beach tent) and the picnic opened. Once we had persuaded the rather pushy swan to b***** off we all worked our way through our baguettes.
Serious paddling and sand castle building followed with the clear shallow and roped off waters being a great drawer for Ruby, George and Dinosaur. Daddy stood in the lake for ages making sure a certain little boy didn't go out too far and mummy helped build a magnificent moated creation.
The afternoons discovery was a small hut that served coffee and crepes. George thought his Crepe with Nutella wad so good that he'd eat the plate too.
More playground time rounded off the day with Ruby making great friends with a little girl despite neither of then understanding a word the other said.
Simple pleasures but a great day out for everyone.
