Amazing few days in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, stunning little town surrounded by impressive mountains and rivers.
The town itself had only a handful of guesthouses, restaurants and bars, all shut by around 10pm with only one keeping open for a few more hours.
Hired mopeds for a tour round town, I had the luxury of one that kept cutting out and burned through more fuel than my car at home did.
First day visited Phong Nha Cave. 7km long and accessible only by low long boats, was amazing inside. Pictures don't really do it justice.
That evening somehow Sonny and Anna arrived from the 2 day drive from Hue, and in one piece thankfully! Last night with the four of us together after over a month of travelling through Laos and Cambodia. Few beers were sunk as expected!
Second day we visited the Dark Cave after another scoot round on the peds. Full day of activities there, caving with only head torches for lights, chilled in a natural cave mud bath about 4 foot deep, kayaking and a bit of Ninja Warrior style assault course over the river, great final day together!
Off up to Ha Long bay next, hoping for decent weather as everyone we've met has reported storms the past few weeks as the monsoon closes in... Decent weather and Castaway tour could be an option, bad weather and a weekend watching the Premiership games it may be!
