An overnight stay at a friends family home in a small coastal village called Quat Lam Beach, Nam Dinh-Giao, Thuy-Giao Thinh, was definitely a memorable addition to the trip.
Spent the afternoon fishing in the family stream/ pond that runs past their allotment, Sonny caught quantity, I caught the biggest!
After being introduced to all of the family we sat for a big evening meal. Everything caught fresh, crabs, squid, shrimps, and everything that goes with it. Amazing food and great company, all of the family sat for dinner together.
During the meal local home made white and dark wine were served and at a some pace! The dark wine was from Laos, White was local to the town. In true Vietnamese style, the drinking lasts for the duration of the meal and is unbelievably quick! Made it also a bit more difficult that the 'wine' was stronger than spirits at home and the food kept on coming.
After the meal went to a local karaoke bar and some more beers sunk. Bit fuzzy by the end of the night but our enthusiasm went down well with the family!
Next day another huge lunch and a visit to a local museum set up by a General from the town who fought in the Vietnam war.
Great few days seeing some of real Vietnam family life. Onto Sapa for the final stop before Hanoi.
