Awake at 0800. Go for a wander, and phone the Gabba to investigate tours, pencil in Thursday for a visit. Go to the Queensland Museum (free) and browse for about two hours. Excellent. A little exhbition about three Australian Army soldiers from World War I who were awarded the Victoria Cross. Also a little on the history of Queensland and the treatment of the Aboriginals; reptiles, animals, fish, transport, including the smallest boat to travel around the world.
In the afternoon, a short train journey takes me to Milton to visit the XXXX Brewery for a tour. £22 - decent enough tour, with four 'free' beers at the end (XXXX Gold, Sparkly XXXX, a stout and a light). The production line, automated of course, works at a huge speed, cans fill at a rate of 20 per second; tops put on at 800 per minute. The brewery produces beer for all of Queensland - though they have other factories around Australia (and one in Italy) to supply other areas.
Back at the hostel, cook pasta for dinner, and then take part in a Mini-Olympics - basketball, table football and pool. I am on a team with Gary, a Leinster supporter, who has been here for seven months working on farms. Spend last nights winnings!
