Just a quickie. We are on our way to Maun, on the Okavango Delta. Really looking forward to next few days. We are having an overnight excursion exploring the delta traveling by Makoro, a dug out canoe and on foot. We will be going through the giant lily pads and tall grasses through narrow channels with hippo and croc along the way. Then we will be doing the walk with a bushman from the Kalahari before traveling on to Namibia. Should be great. We will camp out overnight with no camp facilities whatsoever. Cant believe we are doing so much.
Yesterdays boat safari on Chobe River was amazing. We saw some really good sized crocodiles right on the river banks about 10ft from our boat, also a fish eagle which is quite rare in that part. No elephants to wake up to so a nice quiet night followed with a very early start this morning and a 10 hour drive.
Will let you know how the delta goes... really excited about it.

Ian Hi Anne, Sounds exciting and thrilling....never smile at a crocodile....eh what? As you know (thank you for your voice mail) the past 48 hours have been pretty ghastly; poor Lucy McTavish our beautiful Labrador, we’ll miss her so very much. How ridiculous for a grown man...and woman....to shed so many tears over a gun-dog but, of course she was much more than that, she was a tremendous friend and very much a family member. She’s reunited with Midge and they are undoubtedly causing havoc and stealing food in heaven! Your Makoro trip sounds fantastic....how wonderful. I think travelling by canoe is such a good way to explore a river and really get in contact with it......keep the contact with Cocs to a distance of 10ft though. I’ve always imagined it rather hard to negotiate terms with a lizard, and I’m not sure I’d call a Crocodile a lizard to its face!! Mum and Dad all fine, the cretins at BT cut through their telephone lines....!.....they should be back on-phone by Monday evening. As ever, take care, be safe, enjoy. Much love, Ian x
Ann Carty It all sounds so beautiful and exciting Anne. I'm envious!!! Ann
