The Delta trip was brilliant. So relaxing traveling by Mokoro through the grasses and lilly pads. There are lots of little islands in the Delta and we were able to get up fairly close to some elephants grazing on one of them.
We camped out overnight under a Sausage Tree. This was like a tree from Harry Potter. It has lovely big flowers that it was shedding whilst we were there. The flowers were red and a bit like a lilly in shape and size. The flowers fell with such force because of their weight it was as if the tree was throwing them at us. During the day it was almost a constant pelting. Hitting us and everything around us. Really funny. At camp in the afternoon we had some time to swim in the delta which has beautiful clear clean water, then I made myself a couple of spears with my imressive knife (only used if for cutting up oranges up until now). The makoro boatmen were very impressed with it too. I am now called bushwoman! In the evening we were entertained by the makoro people with singing and dancing and then we returned the gesture with a round of "I am the music man" and Row Row Row your boat - changing the words to Pole Pole Pole your boat.
The next day we returned to camp and myself and 2 others took a scenic flight over the delta to get a better perspective of this amazing area, with its intriate flood plain channels, the only one of it's kind in the world.
