Arrived Christchurch at around 3am, as seeing that we have absolutely no accommodation for today, we went for the airport chairs, luckily there was plenty of spaces. As we got everything ready, blanket and our backpack as pillow etc, we fell asleep. Everything was so freezing, the airport didn't even have heater. To go to toilet, we has to go through outside tunnel which have temperature of a freezer! At 8am we all woke up, with stiff in our bones, shivering! Lovely man who was one of us took us to the departure door which have heater above the door, we stood there for like forever. Until then one of worker brought us a flame blade heater, we sat around the heater quietly. Then other worker brought us chair to get comfortable. We thought how friendly they was! It was until around 10am, we made start to the Britz Camper-van hire office. As we arrived, unsurprisingly the room was packed with peoples because the Company won't distribute the camper-van in the last past few days because of the snow and icy condition. It reopened today. We sort out all the paper work etc, collecting the free books of New Zealand etc. Then it time for us to discover our new home for the next two weeks! It was beautiful and we was glad! We moved on to Christchurch town to have browse around... We was so sad and felt sick when we saw everything in ruins, the road was dead and full of cracks. The centre of town where it suppose to have hundreds of people walking around, carrying shopping bags... But there was nobody around, the shops are all closed, the bricks are all cracked, everywhere there was pink graffiti stating the date of demolishment. Basically it was a ghost town. We head back to our camper-van to go to shopping for foods and our warm clothes as it basically -5 out there especially in the night time. Then it time for us to head for Dunedin. As we drove, we passed Ashburton, Geraldine, Temuka and Timaru, then we stopped at lay bay in Waimate for overnight. We was exhausted and went for our bed. My was on the top of driver cab, it was not too bad.
