Allie's European Adventure
Hello all!
Well finally the workshop is over! It was an okay experience, but I am happy its done. The presentations were held all morning on Saturday, and then in the afternoon they announced the winners. Out of the 12 teams, 3 teams won a 75% paid internship to a University in Rome for a masters in some kind of archeology design. My team was one of the three! So that was very exciting - I didn't feel like I contributed all that could to the team, because of communication mistakes and such ... but I am proud of everyone just the same. It'll be a good thing to put on my resume. And if I ever want a masters in Rome, I guess I could go. But probably not.
After the judging there was a dinner that night, just a little outside of Rome. It wasn't free, so not many of the American students went (I know, lame). But most of us Larchies decided to go because we thought it would be a good experience. I'm glad we went. Italians have very extravagant, loud, and long dinners - so it was an experience. It was a 5 course meal of pasta. The first course was prosciutto and toast, then baked ziti, third was a spicy pasta, fourth was risotto and vegetables, and fifth was tiramisu! It was a lot of food!
Now that the workshop/competition is over we are starting our normal classes. I am glad that I'm going to have some kind of routine now. I have class from 9 - 12 every Monday Wednesday Friday, and then 9-11 and 5-7 on Tues and Thursday. So not too bad. This Friday we have off ("Flex Friday" as they call it) and a bunch of us will be heading to Belgium. So I should have some nice pictures to show you next email. Hope all is well!
