Picture of one of the information boards at Picton, gateway to South Island. About mid way through the crossing, Andrew sleeping, an ok swell and free internet. The campervan is on the very bottom deck where a freight train came off, we were told we would be the first off, put money on us getting lost in Wellington, always used to in France after getting off the ferry or eurotunnel .
We are getting rather attached to our motor home, the driving seats are most comfortable, no hip, backache or stiffness even after our long drives. It is easy to keep tidy and a clean takes just minutes. There is plenty of room for our stuff, so much so that there is one storage locker that is almost empty. The fridge is full sized and operates on the leisure battery when not connected to power and easily switch to gas when freedom camping. The gas can be used to heat the camper if not connected to power and when hooked up in campsite there is a little plug in fan heater that works well too. The only issue is lack of radio reception, maybe it will be better on the North Island? We can connect up our music via Bluetooth in the van, Andrew has his music to play alphabetically so it can be a bit random, started on the trip to Yorkshire with the “A’s”, so at least we’ve done Adel ,ABBA and Arron Copland ( I did say it was random).
