Wow…how time flies here in India! I loose track of what day it is! It has sure been an eventful few weeks!!!! Some of the highlights:
Monkeys monkeys monkeys everywhere,
I went to Moosurie (A town in the Himalayas over 2,000 km high and very beautiful!)
I visited the Beatles ashram (where the Beatles stayed back in the day to meditate),
I meditated at the Osho Ashram (active meditation: we danced around like crazy, jumping around like monkeys and spinning for 45 minutes, than we meditated and listened to Osho’s lectures)
We practiced yoga at the beach again
I taught a pranayama class (breathing techniques)
I taught a full yoga asana class
Took a test for the yoga course and did really good
Corrected students postures while in class
Attended a fire ceremony (we danced to loud Indian music around a large fire 7 ft high)
Hands on experience with Holy Day (got covered in color!!!)
I have never seen so many monkeys in my life! I even was able to feed them and hold their hand I have the pic somewhere on my iphone.
Moosurie was such a beautiful place! The roads were windy and some students got car sick, but they were able to hold on the their stomachs. We went to a waterfall on the way and saw some white topped mountains! We rented a jeep, which the teacher said he will pay for and that he will take it as a field trip, even though the students organized it separately…how nice of him! While there, I bought some homemade Himalayan chocolates….MMMmmmm how yummy, especially the white chocolate.lol…
Sometime in the 70’s the Beatles visited an Ashram here in Rishikesh and stayed to meditate in these little meditation rooms (see pics). The Ashram is no longer being used. It is over grown and spooky looking.
The Osho meditation was a great experience! Osho was a revolutionary yogi whom created a remarkable active way to meditate! He emphasized the importance of meditation, love and awareness. You should look him up!
Osho's "Ten Commandments"
“ 1. Never obey anyone's command unless it is coming from within you also.
2. There is no God other than life itself.
3. Truth is within you, do not search for it elsewhere.
4. Love is prayer.
5. To become a nothingness is the door to truth. Nothingness itself is the means, the goal and attainment.
6. Life is now and here.
7. Live wakefully.
8. Do not swim – float.
9. Die each moment so that you can be new each moment.
10. Do not search. That which is, is. Stop and see.
The fire ceremony was sooooo awesome! They had large fires all throughout India. There were quite a few where we were staying, on the beach and in the city. I danced around the fire to native Indian music on the loud speakers while people were painting each other with color…getting ready for Holy day! It was a very joyful experience.
The next day was Holi day….get ready cause there is no escaping and tourists are targets!!! There was not a sole around that did not get attacked by India’s war paint, colored powder. It is a celebration of colors. Check it out on wikpedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holi
Little did I know that the color does not come entirely off….my skin and hair will be pink for a few days. Lol….thats ok, I guess I fit in with everyone else here!
Sorry gotta make it short, Yoga class awaits….
