April's Travels
Our last night at Orange Walk was so cool. We met up with Orlando and Cindy at the restaurant and they invited us back for coffee. After the meal we got picked up and went to their friend's house, he's called Salvador. We had Iced T and rum punch and chatted about Belize and the UK again and then Orlando got out the guitar and Cindy sang some songs. They were so good. Anyway they wanted us to sing but as you probably know i am beyond terrible so politely declined. After plenty of begging and chanting i felt rude not singing so i sang my first song to them. Are you ready for this?? I sang the National Anthem!! It was requested, i didn't pick it but Orlando started playing the tune so i sang it to them, badly. We carried on with the bangles and all sorts, it was hilarious!!
The next day we caught the bus to Belize City and the water taxi to Caye Caulker (a little island), it's fab here. Lush, turquoise sea and a backpacker paradise. The first room we checked into was a tiny room (pics included) it had bunk beds and a curtain separating the bathroom from us. Everytime i turned over in bed the whole bunk would shudder!! Hilarious. We had a massive cream coloured crab outside our door. Our little pet, lovely. We moved after one night because it was too much. Our place now is lush, they have a deck out at sea with hammocks and chairs. Yesterday we caught the water taxi to San Pedro (listen to Madonna's song 'La Isla Bonita' it's all about San Pedro). It's a bigger island than Caulker so we hired a golf buggy to whizz around town.
Today we were due to go snorkelling with rays and nurse sharks but i caught my hand in the ceiling fan when i was getting dressed this morning, so i have cuts and bruises. Pictures attached. It's not that bad, but hurts. For those of you who know me well you can imagine what i was like. I couldn't stand for half an hour becuase i kept nearly blacking out. I thought i had lost my hand. It's ok now but we've put snorkelling off until tomorrow. I didn't want the sharks smelling the blood and taking my hand off.
