7 Day UK tour - Part 3:
We arrived in Blackpool in the evening on Tuesday and after checking into a classic old hotel, which reminded Nat of the hotel in The Shining, we headed into town as a group for some Chinese and then tenpin bowling, which was a great night.
Creepy highlight of the night was returning to our hotel and peering into the venue room where music was playing, only to be spotted by the solo singer/entertaininer, who then called out to us to come in and join the crowd (average age was about 85). After declining and heading back out, he called over our shoulders that we were missing out on a swingers night, and started observing to the crowd how lucky Ant was to be accompanied by 3 girls, followed by some other awkward comments which were somewhat disturbing to have yelled at you by a hairy singer pushing 75 himself. Classic Blackpool (very weird town).
The following morning we jumped back on the bus and headed on up north across the border and into Scotland, as we made for Edinburgh. After checking into our very cool, modern hotel right in the heart of Edinburgh, we headed for dinner nearby and then went out for a few (too many) drinks, ending up at a dirty underground club where the average age was about 16 and the walls were stickier than the floors. Good times though!
