On Sunday, David and I went to the MCG to watch England women's cricket team thrash the Aussie women's team! After record breaking attendance of over 91,000 at 1st day of men's test match, there were probably less than 1,000 watching the women. I left David there in the afternoon as I had a date with Sarah at the Lindt chocolate shop in the centre of Melbourne. Sarah treated me to a chocolate feast. See the photos! Absolutely delicious. Hot choc drink with choc cakes and dip.
Back to Melbourne Park on Monday where we bought tickets for Hisense Arena (equivalent of Court 1 at Wimbledon). Hisense is a Chinese White goods/TV manufacturer big in Aus. First we saw the Bryan twins defeated in men's doubles (they are/were ranked 1st) and then Andy Murray win against Stephane Robert of France. Getting tickets was very easy and cheaper than Wimbledon. We finished the day with a very entertaining 'legends' double match with Mansour Bharami playing and joking around. A great end to the day.
Tuesday, I went to the tennis in my own and watched some more entertaining 'legends' men's doubles. It seems that old tennis players don't retire but play more light-hearted matches, entertaining the spectators with trick shots and involving the ball kids by getting them to play. Yannick Noah and Goran Ivanisevic were especially funny but can still serve at over 200 kms an hour!
