Woke up at 6.45, the bus to Cameron Highlands was supposed to arrive at 7.30 so we were ready and got picked up by 8!
The mini bus driver drove round the town after everyone was picked up and got himself breakfast, iced coffee and went to the shop! Great! Can you imagine if a stage coach bus did that at home?
Anyway he then proceeded to get dressed while driving! Exactly the same as Mr Bean did on one of the episodes! I clung on for life! He didn't have a hand on the steering wheel but changed his t shirt and hoodie, did his hair and ate his breakfast without batting an eyelid whilst driving up the side of mountains! Fabulous.
His music taste was horrendous! Heavy metal then Britney Spears? Weird! We stopped once at a petrol station, he sparked up a cig next to a non smoking sign on the pump! Haha this guy is mental!
We finally arrived in Cameron Highlands at 11.45 so it took 4 hours! We are staying in a village called Tanah Rata as its the sister hostel to the one we stayed in in KL!
The Cameron Highlands is name after William Cameron who found the place in 1885 and confirmed it in 1920. Tanah Rata is basicly just a main road, it has lots of shops, cafes, hotels and hostels with a post office, taxi rank and bus station. That's it but it's the main village up here.
Cameron Highlands is cold!! It's so high in the mountains that the temperature has changed! I havnt felt cold in 4 months and I don't like it! Always wearing long trousers and a hoodie! Urghhhh
We checked into Kang Travellers Lodge Hostel and asked Bella the receptionist about doing a tour tomorrow! She discounted the tour for us! We are doing a trek through the jungle to see a carnivorous flower the only one in the world, a water fall, tea plantation, strawberry farm, butterfly park, viewing stops and lunch from 9 till 5 tomorrow for 75 ringgit (£15). Not bad! Hope the flower doesn't eat me!!
Asked Bella where to eat and we went to the Indian food stall, for 10 ringgit (£2) I had fish and vegetable curry with rice, shared a naan bread and had an iced coffee!
I need new trekking shoes so we went to go and find some, they are aweful, didnt get trainers as you don't really need them so got slip on full shoes for 5 ringgits (£1). Can't wait to get them muddy so you can't see them!
Michael went to get a Starbucks! Don't think we have had one in Asia yet and he gets one every day at home! For a large it was about £3.
Went back to the hostel, asked about getting bus tickets to KL in two days but there was only one bus from here so Bella said to go to the bus station.
Got to the bus station and was looking at a board of prices when a guy came over to offer us them. Suddenly this Indian lady started running towards him then punching him and telling him we were hers!! She is crazy! She then told me I was beautiful and started hitting Michael telling him he needs to look after me! After telling this lady (who reminded me of bubbles from little Britain) that he treats me badly she told him off again! We were all in histerics! I love her! She was telling Michael how lucky he is to have me and he should stop hitting me!
Paid bubbles 28 ringgits (£4.80) each for a bus to KL that takes 6 hours so not as cheap as usual but Malaysia is expensive!
We chilled with the wifi (our best friend) for a bit then Bella wanted to take us for a walk to the waterfall with her friend Sue.
I think the name of the waterfall we visited was Hutan Lipur Parit Waterfall, which Bella said translated to Drain Waterfall in English! It's the most popular waterfall to visit in Tanah Rata.
We then walked to a Cameron Highlands traditional village, there was a campsite there where people could do home stay in the rainforest!
Walked back to the Hostel, skyped Da then went for a shower. The shower here are lush! So good! Better then anywhere in Malaysia! Even though it's a shared bathroom and is outside we loved it! Wilderness shower!
Walked to Jasmine Cafe on the main road and had white fish in a banana leaf with rice. Skyped Da again and showed him the restaurant, he called the chef ugly and I think he heard! Great fish with spit for me!
This cafe was supposed to be Dutch, it was very strange! On the walls there was cut outs of reviews and the chef had won awards for cooking chips? It's beyond me.
We walked to Starbucks as its freezing here an we need a hot drink! Michael second Starbucks of the day! ;) ha the Starbucks boy was beautiful.
Got back to the room and snuggled in bed! Haha kidding! Michael did my hair while I tried to write blogs! We maybe shouldnt have had a hot chocolate it made me feel sick! Fell asleep at 12.30.
