Slept till 12, I'm glad we woke up at all after the traumatic night we had last night! Got ready and walked to the floating restaurant for breakfast. Had rice as all Asian people have rice soup for breakfast anyway!
The name of the village we are staying in is Kuala Tahan, I think it's the main village as its full of chalet type accommodation. There is about 2 small shops that sell hardly anything! Very useful, every time we walk past the owners are asleep in the doorway anyway! I think the chickens pecking around outside we're on guard duty!
Walked 5 minutes down the river then got a taxi boat across the the national park entrance for 1 ringgit (20p).
You have to walk through a resort to get to the entrance and I don't have a clue why we arnt staying here! I bet it's very expensive but I seriously could just shower here then go back to ours! Check me in!!!
Got to the tourist information stand at the park head quarters before getting to the entrance and as it rained so hard last night parts of the park were closed, including the canopy walkway which is one of the main reasons we came!!! It's our only day here today as well! Gutted isn't the word!
Showed the national park contract we had to sign at the entrance to the national park. Its Malaysia's most protected area. The park had a wooden walkway all the way through so you arnt trekking through jungle ha! There is sign posts where different paths go. The park is 4343 square kilometres so I don't think we will manage to see it all in one day!
The animals in this rainforest include elephants, mouse deer, tapir, seladang, wild pigs, leeches, long tailed macaque, monitor lizards, tigers, sambar deer, malay civet, porcupines, slow loris, paradise tree snake and a million more! Countless monkeys and birds!
The leeches are really bad after the rain here, everyone finds them in there socks and you are guaranteed to find them on you if you do a trek! How scary is that! Blood sucking monsters!
We walked 3 hours all the way to the end and back, at the end it said 'go no further without a guide'! Scary stuff! We didn't get any leeches thank god as we stuck to the walkway and didn't go that far into the rain forest!
Got to the end and walked up the 3 million stairs to see the canopy walkway, it's the longest tree top canopy walkway in the world and looks like the bridge off I'm a celebrity get me out of here. We saw it and took a picture but it such a shame we couldn't walk across it!
Walked around the rain forest more seeing wild monkeys and birds everywhere! In one part of the park all the trees smelt like sticky....
Some of the trees are strange! There was a tree that had the camouflage print on it! We didn't see many other people walking around which is good as when places are crowded everyone intrudes in my photographs.
On the exit and entrance to the park there is signs saying 'take nothing but photos and leave nothing but footprints' which I think is cute.
Got home, showered and went to the floating restaurant to eat, it's the only place we can eat at because of the rain the others have closed! I ate local fish from the Taman Negara River with rice while Michael had a chicken burger and chips! Haha! Got to love him!
Went to the travel agent to book transport for tomorrow and it was a different guy, he said his boss was the guy we spoke to last night and he was in a mood yesterday!! He gave us the tickets we wanted with discount and told us we could get a bus out of Taman Negara where the boss said we could only get a boat! Moron!
Michael wanted a chocolate pancake! I can't believe I'm saying this but we ate chocolate pancakes in the middle of Taman Negara Rain Forest!
There is no wifi here so we havnt been able to use our phone, seriously it feels like a lost an arm! We do everything on our phones! I didn't tell anyone we wouldn't have wifi as I didn't know so I'm sure helicopters will by flying above soon!
Stayed in all night, next to our hostel is a camp sight where about 100 jungle boys are staying while they do a trek so venturing outside of our room is daunting! Nothing against them but they arnt subtle about pointing and staring at the white girl!
The only reason we write blogs these days is because it sends me to sleep like nothing else!
