Got up at 5.30 and got packed and ready. The transfer was supposed to pick us up at 6.15-7 but didn't arrive till 7.20! We aren't really bothered about Asian time now though and just chilled till they came as they will always come!
Tried to get money out from several different ATMs without any luck! So we literally had no money!
On the mini bus we fell asleep for 1 hour on the way to the port! The boat was supposed to leave at 8.30 so of course it left at 9.30! At the port they said we only paid for a single ticket but we paid for a return so we had to call John who sold us the tickets and get him to tell them that we bought a return! We always have people trying to rip is off! Don't they know we have been doing this for over 5 months now!! Bog off!!!
There are 3 Gili islands and we are going to the biggest one called Gili Trawagan, the other two are called Gili Meno and Gili Air.
Arrived at 11 and some guy ran up to us telling us his villas were on the beach, turned out they wernt but they were still nice! It costs 150000 Rupiah (£10) for a night and we get private bathroom and a tv! Actually television with lots of DVDs to chose from! Crazy! The guy is called Carcar. As in brum.
Tried to get money out again from the ATM but neither of our cards worked still! So we had 100000 Rupiah (£7) to last us the day and possibly tomorrow as we asked Carcar of we could pay when we check out!
Got a baguette each as we thought this would fill us up. We didn't even get a drink! Haha
Got home, got changed and went to the beach! Went in the sea and the current is unbelievably strong! I'm a good swimmer but it was a struggle to even get anywhere! The beach here is not exactly perfect! Bits of rubbish around and rocks and trees sticking out everywhere!
Wherever there is open space, Asians excercise so I was forced into watching 15 footballers and there coach training on the beach. What a task!
At 5 we got ready and changed and tried to get money out again but our cards still didn't work. I emailed them earlier in the day and it's because we cant do 5 transactions in 4 days! How ridiculous! As we had paid for everything when we left Gili we used our cards a lot! Great.
So we still had no money. We shared 14000 (£0.97) and went to the shop to see what we could buy for tea. Could have bought noodles but we didn't have any way of making them so we got crisps, chocolate wafers and a water each. Real healthy! Still for 48p each it not bad!
We are like orphans! No one could help us either as we had the money just couldn't take it out. If worst comes to worse tomorrow I found a 50 in Malay money which is £10 and Michael has a £20 english note but no where was open tonight! Michael says god is punishing us to make us approciate things more! Turning to religion in a time of need! He even prayed!!
So, today marks our 150 days travelling! How amazing is that! I absolutely love our lives, I wouldn't change a thing! We have been to 7 countries and fallen in love with all of them! We are coming home the end of October though which is sad but we want to save up and do a continent at a time and next it's either Europe or South America!
We have definately caught the travelling bug! I wouldn't travel with anyone else! I would never tell him this to his face though! Haha we argue sometimes but it doesn't last long and apart from that we are perfect for each other! I would describe us as high maintenance travellers on a low maintainance budget!
I think we are the perfect travellers though. We see all the sights, hang out with the locals, eat local food, stay respectful and have an amazing time! We havnt met one other traveller that hangs out with the locals, not one. A lot of people come to Asia to drink and not see any sights! Some people do it on such a strict budget they can't have a good time! Other travellers have a good time and see the sight but only stay in one country for a week which isn't enough! Everyone can travel how they want to travel and I guess they would think its perfect for them but I think how me and Michael travel is perfect.
Mum keeps saying I'll be shocked when I'm home. I guess I will, don't get me wrong, I'm still the same Annie! But I was speaking to a long time traveller last week and he said when he goes home everyone stays the same but you change and your still friends with the people but opinions and pespectives are different.
I think I'm a better person now. Who knows though! Going home with no job and no money isnt going to be great but I don't regret anything, it was 100% worth it, I've had the best time of my life and I would do it again in a heart beat! I have met the most amazing people and will never forget any of them!
