Up early after going to bed so early but slept like a log! After reading in bed we lazily went to breakfast before heading into the town for the day.
Not sure what the plan was we walked in which was lovely as got to soak up some sun and the shops on the way. With a quick stop at the pharmacy for more factor 15 (some colour was preferred to the 30 block from NZ). We found the beach which was lovely and at the end found a secluded bay for one of the nice hotels. To get there we had to navigate some wooden slatted steps over the hillside clifftop. It said it was a monkey walk but no monkeys to be found.
The beach was lovely and we settled for a few hours of swimming, sunbathing and people watching. Even the crabs were speedy to watch. But the heat took over once we had dried off from our swim and we decided a drink was required so back off Up the steps we went.
Hot hot hot was what followed next!
The wooden steps had baked in the sun and suddenly like a spy, I had no footprint left as I progressed rapidly faster up the stairs to the shade! Bob laughed as it proved a nifty way to get me moving! At the end, just as I was thinking that the monkey walkway hadn't lived up to it's name we were stopped in our path by loads of them. They were all over the boardwalk and beach and all different ages. Some dogs thought it would be fun to scare them which scared Rob and me more as they ran in our direction. All calmed and we continued on but not before we almost got peed on by one if them sitting above the walkway in a tree. I swear it dripped on my shoulder... Euww!
Thirsty we stopped at the fruit smoothies stall for the most amazing juices, orange, apple and pineapple. Yum and then headed down the ao nang promenade for a spot of shopping.
We'd forgotten the joy of Thai shopping and the fakes! Suddenly I saw a handbag shop full of designer goodies, phranang leather, my new favourite place! The fakes were incredibly good and I nearly walked out of there with 3 bags but got a grip and went to think about it. After a pootle down the shops, some t shirts, boardies, salt and pepper monkeys and a links of London bracelet later we had some lunch and then home back via the leather shop and 2 fake chanels later! I was in heaven!
At home we inspected our wares and after a rest and chapter or two of my book on the veranda we then had dinner at the hotel as too tired to go back to town. Yummy sweet and sour for me and oyster sauce for bob.
A nice early night followed. The hotel was so comfy that it seemed a shame to do anything else!
