Christmas day! After a lovely lay in we got up for elf on the tv and a festive brekkie of toast and hot choc. Sun not yet out, I rang mum and spoke to the family before packing lunch and setting off for the mount.
On the beachfront it was buzzing
And the stubborn kiwis were having family bbq's in the wind! We strolled up the front and although breezy it was warm as we tackled the faster but more hard core route to the top. The bungee effect helped me up all the stairs with a little help from bob!
Half hour later we reached top and a fab view over the mount to town and out to sea. Rob's mum called whilst we were at the top and we wished everyone a merry Xmas although they laughed at our festive lunch of cheese and ham rolls!
We decided to stroll back down the steepest route ever with tonnes of steep steps but at the bottom we found a picnic bench just for us. After an Ice cream and stroll along beach we went back to the apartment for the evening.
We relaxed in the hot tub outside our room for half hour to soothe our aching bones after all that exercise! Then realised the sun had caught us again and I now could match Rob's t shirt shaped burn!
With our lovely little apartment we cooked a truely Italiano Xmas dinner. Spaghetti bol, garlic bread and a bottle of oyster bay Rose bubbly. Whilst cooking I couldn't understand why my eyes were watering so much! Suddenly rob helped and opened the now smoking oven...6 pieces of black garlic bread emerged. So much for my wifely cooking duties his husbandly ones are just as pants! Thankfully we had few pieces left which did for dinner.
All in all, not a bad Xmas day!
